DESCRIPTION
- A single steel pip in the bent cap is used to house the bars extended from column and serve as a stay-in-place form as well as equivalent joint hoop reinforcement.
- After placing precast bent cap, concrete is placed in the pocket and bedding layer.

DESIGN RECOMENDATIONS
- The thickness of pipe should be designed to provide the same circumferential hoop force in the joint as that required by transverse reinforcement of Article 8.13.3 of the 2009 LRFD SGS.
